Enter a last name and click on search to see results.

CAVEAT STATUS

Below is a list of the most common caveat statuses and what they mean:

Application granted
The caveat may have this status if the application it was linked to has been granted.

Caveat withdrawn
The person who filed the caveat has withdrawn their caveat.

Filed
The caveat has been filed with the Probate Office but has not yet been linked to an application for a grant.

Finalised
The caveat has been finalised.  Usually the case disposition will give more information about why the caveat has been finalised.

Linked to application for grant
An application related to the estate the caveat applies to has been filed, and the caveat has been linked to the application.  Notice of the caveat will usually be sent to the applicant and the caveator once the caveat has been linked to the application.

CASE DISPOSITION

There is also some different terminology used for the case disposition.  These case dispositions should be read together with the case status to determine what has happened with the caveat:

Discontinued
The person who filed the caveat has withdrawn their caveat.

Expired
A caveat only remains active for a set period of time.  A caveat is no longer active if it has this case disposition.

Order
A judicial officer has made an order in relation to the caveat.  For example, the judicial officer may have made an order to strike out the caveat.

Undisposed
The caveat remains active and has not yet been finalised.
