The Supreme Court of Victoria is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Michael Carroll as Chief Executive Officer of the Court.
Mr Carroll has extensive executive and project management experience and a track record of leading, managing and delivering financial, reform and critical service delivery outcomes in complex environments.
He joined the Court as Acting CEO last year, coming from Court Services Victoria (CSV) where he initially played a key role in establishing CSV as an independent corporate entity (in 2014) and subsequently held a number of positions including as the inaugural Deputy CEO and Acting CEO.
Mr Carroll led the CSV response to the Royal Commission into Family Violence including the establishment and initial implementation of many recommendations pertaining to Court-based responses to family violence in Victoria. As Executive Director, Major Projects, he oversaw the development of the Bendigo Law Courts through to its opening in 2023.
Prior to CSV, Mr Carroll held executive director positions in various portfolios and agencies within the then Department of Justice (now the Department of Justice and Community Safety Victoria) for almost 15 years.
Chief Justice Anne Ferguson said the Court looked forward to Mr Carroll’s ongoing thoughtful and dedicated leadership.
“Michael brings great experience and expertise to the role from his many years of management of large and complex teams and major projects. I am delighted that he will continue to serve in the substantive role of Chief Executive Officer,” Chief Justice Ferguson said.
