Court rules that the trial be live streamed to the public.

The Court has granted an application made by the Plaintiff to have the trial of the proceeding live streamed to the public at large. In a ruling handed down today, Justice McDonald found that considerations of open justice, as well as accessibility for group members who have returned to their home country, favoured the making of an order that the trial be live streamed to the public. While there are presently no restrictions in place in respect of the live stream, his Honour made orders that any prospective lay witness is prohibited from viewing the live stream until he or she has completed giving evidence.

The Manus Island Class Action will commence on 15 May 2017.
