Court receives an update on the progress of the settlement distribution.

A Case Management Conference was held before Justice Jack Forrest on 30 March 2017 to monitor the progress of the settlement distribution in relation to the Kilmore East Kinglake Black Saturday bushfire class action.

The Court was informed by the Scheme Administrator that a total of approximately $418.5 million will be paid by way of compensation to group members, comprising of personal injury claims and economic loss/property damage claims.

The Court was told by the Scheme Administrator that nearly all of the group members who suffered personal injuries as a result of the bushfire have received their compensation payments. Compensation payments for this category of claim total approximately $158.5 million.

The Scheme Administrator also told the Court that group members who have claimed economic loss or property damage have, or will be, receiving compensation payments. Compensation payments for this category of claim will total approximately $260 million.

The next Case Management Conference is scheduled for 9 June 2017.
