Chief Justice Anne Ferguson will retire as a judge and as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Victoria, effective from 2 February 2025.

Chief Justice Ferguson was appointed as the twelfth Chief Justice of the Supreme Court after being appointed to the Court in 2010 and to the Court of Appeal in 2014.

Her Honour has served as Chair of the Courts Council, which is the governing body of Court Services Victoria, the independent statutory body providing services and facilities to Victoria’s courts, VCAT and other Victorian statutory entities. 

The Chief Justice has also served as Chair of the Judicial College of Victoria and the Judicial Commission of Victoria.  

“It has been a privilege to have served the Victorian community,” Chief Justice Ferguson said. 

“I thank the judicial officers and staff from across this Court, other jurisdictions and Court Services Victoria, together with the legal profession, for their commitment and dedication during my time as a judge of the Supreme Court.”
