The Supreme Court of Victoria confirms that Justice Chris Maxwell will retire as President of the Court of Appeal on 15 July 2022.
By then, Justice Maxwell will have served in the role for 17 years, after being appointed President of the Court of Appeal in July 2005.
His Honour commenced practice at the Bar in 1984 and was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1998.
In June 2015, Justice Maxwell was made a Companion of the Order of Australia in the Queen’s Birthday Honours for eminent service to the law and to the judiciary.
The Court of Appeal was established in 1995 and is part of the Supreme Court of Victoria.
