A group proceeding (class action) brought on behalf of persons who have suffered harm as the result of the implant of a contraceptive device, labelled as a 'STOP' device or an 'Essure' device, prior to 31 December 2018. The group proceeding is brought against a number of companies alleged to have been involved in the design, development or manufacture of the devices, or to have sponsored the devices under the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989 (Cth). The  alleges that the defendants breached a duty of care owed to the plaintiff and group members, and/or their obligations under Australian consumer protection laws.
